Domaine Leroy Romanee St Vivant Grand Cru 2015 in OWC

£33,500 in bond per 3 bottle case

We are exceptionally pleased to offer a stunning original case of Domaine Leroy’s inimitable Romanee St Vivant Grand Cru from the standout 2015 vintage.

For many collectors Domaine Leroy is the pinnacle of Burgundy, and the Romanée-Saint-Vivant is one of the staring wines in Lalou Bize-Leroy’s phenomenal portfolio. It’s all perfume, silk and quiet power rather than sheer muscle. She farms just under a hectare of this grand cru biodynamically, and in 2015 yields were tiny, so just 1510 bottles were produced and it’s a wine the critics fell for completely. William Kelley gave it a perfect 100 points, calling it one of the most magical wines of the vintage, and Galloni went 99, saying it simply has it all. Interestingly, both preferred it to the Leroy Richebourg tasted alongside it, which tells you a lot. It’s only now starting to open up, with a drinking window that runs well past 2060, so whether you’re looking to drink it over the next few years or lay it down for the long haul, this is about as good as it gets.

The case was purchased in 2018 from J&B where it was kept unmoved, under bond until it was moved to our bonded cellar earlier this year. The case was then inspected and photographed on arrival. We are pleased to offer this pristine original case, immediately available and at a competitive price compared to market listings.

The 2015 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru from Domaine Leroy is one of the most magical wines to be found in Burgundy in this vintage, soaring from the glass with a bouquet of kaleidoscopic complexity, featuring notes of rose petal, blood orange, potpourri and bright berry fruit, with only hints of the savory complexity to come with bottle age. On the palate, the wine is deep, full-bodied and extraordinarily multifaceted, with immense concentration, incredible energy and a long, resonating finish. Both more elegant and more reserved than the gloriously dramatic Richebourg that followed it, this is a profound Romanée-Saint-Vivant. 100/100 William Kelley

The 2015 Romanée Saint-Vivant could not possibly be more different than the Corton-Renardes. Seamless and totally polished, with exquisite aromatics and fabulous overall presence, the Romanée Saint-Vivant simply has it all. One of the things I admire most about the 2015 is the very distinct feeling of concentration with no excess weight. All it takes is a little bit of time in the glass for the 2015 to start fleshing out. When I returned to the Romanée Saint-Vivant after the Richebourg I found it even more captivating. What a wine! 99/100 Antonio Galloni
