Chateau Latour Premier Cru Classe, Pauillac, 1966
£10,500 per case in bond - SOLD
CHW Cellars are pleased to present these beautiful cases of Chateau Latour 1966 in excellent condition. These cases have been impeccably well looked after, having been stored in just one location over their lifetime, and always in temperature-controlled cellaring. There is the expected discolouring on some of the labels, but levels are consistent and extremely good for a wine that is now entering it's 60th year.
Both cases were purchased on release and form part of an extensive private family collection, from which CHW Cellars has bought and sampled a number of similarly aged cases—all of which have been in superb condition. At nearly 60 years of age, the 1966 Latour is a wonderful mature claret that continues to deliver the classic traits of this famous Pauillac château, and I have included some recent critic reviews below. Also it's worth adding that cellar-tracker reviews from last year were all singing it praises (94/100 across 220 reviews).
It is incredibly rare to find such a mature case of a First Growth that has not moved since its original purchase, and it will no doubt offer the lucky buyer an incredible drinking experience for many years to come. There are no other original cases listed worldwide, and at £875 per bottle, I think this is very reasonably priced for one of the world’s most famous châteaux from a storied vintage.
This wine has now been SOLD.
