Domaine d’Auvenay Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2009

£55,000 in bond per 3 bottle case

If Domaine Leroy is Lalou Bize-Leroy’s public face, d’Auvenay is her private passion. It’s her own small family estate near Meursault, farmed biodynamically, and it produces what many consider the greatest and rarest white Burgundies of all. Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet is the smallest of the Montrachet grand crus, just 1.57 hectares tucked entirely within Chassagne. Lalou’s holding is minuscule, typically yielding only a few hundred bottles a year, so you very rarely see it, let alone in original case.

With just 298 bottles made in 2009, it’s no surprise there is very little to go on in terms of tasting notes. Beyond La Revue du Vin de France, none of the major critics have had the chance to taste it, and there isn’t a single note on CellarTracker. What we do know is that 2009 was a warm, generous vintage, and RVF scored it 19.5/20. With seventeen years under its belt, it should now be showing beautifully: rich and concentrated, but with that trademark d’Auvenay precision and energy running through it.

This case was released by the Domaine in 2025 and has been in our bonded storage ever since. It’s in pristine condition, immediately available, and the only case on the market worldwide.
