Saute Loup Reserve de la Pomerol, 2009

£15,000 per case in bond

CHW Cellars are hugely pleased to present a ‘unicorn’ bottling from Bordeaux from the legendary Chateau Petrus in Pomerol. The Saute-Loup ‘Reserve de Famille’ is a special Pomerol cuvee made in miniscule amounts, not directly released to the public, usually reserved exclusively for friends, family and employees. It is probably the most mysterious cuvee in Bordeaux that is inevitably highly collectable and rarely comes up for sale. The name is at first a mystery, coming from a parcel of the domain?, or from a former domain?, of which it is impossible to find in any literature. And the mystery continues on the nature of the wine, not really a second wine, perhaps a vintage of younger vines, or from a few particular plots – who knows! I have just one case of the stellar 2009 vintage available today. Due to lack of any sort of professional tasting notes for Saute-Loup I've included the tasting note for the Petrus 2009 as a guide and also the most recent 'Cellar Tracker' note for Saute-Poup 2009 taken from a tasting in 2024.
